Scientists and public health experts have shown how certain personal and community efforts provide protection against infection from or further spread of disease. These steps include social distancing, personal hygiene practices, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Is there a need for cloth masks for your community or church congregation? Does a nursing home you know of need gowns? If so, you can use these materials to guide you through the process.

Someone noticed there was a need for clinical-grade masks for healthcare workers in Utah. Community partners got together in and near Salt Lake City, Utah, and formed ProjectProtect to make more than five million of these masks—almost entirely through community volunteers! ProjectProtect is just one example of what can be accomplished with community partnerships and volunteers in a community.

This guide will help you organize and launch your own community PPE project with volunteers in your area.
