On December 15, 2022, Latter-day Saint Charities social media channels changed their handles from @LatterdaySaintCharities to @Caring.ChurchofJesusChrist. Our mission to care for those in need is the same. The social media name change is the start of a larger effort to shine a light on the efforts of the global Church and Church members as we work to care for those in need.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has a mission to care for all of God’s children around the world, which includes both people’s spiritual health and their physical well-being. With that mission in mind, we changed our social handle, so we not only include our work with charities around the world, but our other efforts to care for those in need as well.
What Efforts Will Caring Include?
- Building Self-Reliance: One of our main goals for caring for those in need includes building self reliance. This effort includes employment support, education projects, self-reliance courses, and addiction recovery support.
- Member Service: Members of the Church around the world work to give their time, talents, and resources to bless those in need. This service includes missionary service to the community, fast offerings, food pantries, youth service projects, and refugee aid and assistance.
- Worldwide Aid: As part of the Church’s goal to care for God’s children around the world, the Church leads many worldwide projects in categories such as clean water, food security, vision care and mobility, maternal and newborn care, and emergency response.
- Ideas on How You Can Make a Difference: We hope that as we share these projects and stories of service that others will be inspired to make a difference in their community. One of the efforts of @Caring.ChurchofJesusChrist will be to provide ideas on how anyone can care for those in need.
